Scholarships designed to support young women

The Mary Jane Lewis Scholarship Foundation offers scholarships to young women undertaking full-time study at university. It’s designed to help girls who have overcome financial constraints and often a challenging home life to become excellent academic performers, with a genuine commitment to living life to its fullest.

Scholarships now open for 2027

We are now taking applications for 2027. All applicants are subject to a personal and parental income test. Successful applicants are awarded a scholarship on the basis of academic achievements as well as financial need.

Value: $10,000 per year for each successful applicant for three years.

Who’s eligible for the scholarship?

Scholarships are for equity and merit based applicants. A Mary Jane Lewis Scholarship is available to full-time students attending university. There are no restrictions on courses a student can study, but we are strongly encouraging young women with a passion for STEM and/or who are located in a rural or regional part of Victoria to apply. Refer to the FAQs for all eligibility requirements.

Dad’s Lewis scholarship enabled him to realise his dream of a medical career and go on to pioneer nuclear medicine in Australia. Dad’s achievements drove my pursuit for academic excellence and were an inspiration to me and my two sisters (who also pursued careers in medicine). My family is living proof the intergenerational impact such scholarships can provide.
